Text Message (SMS) Terms & Consent

Effective Date: July 23, 2026

This page describes the text message (SMS) program for DigitalCabinet. It explains what messages we send, how we obtain your consent to send them, how often you may receive them, and how to stop them at any time. It applies in addition to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

1. Program description

When you enroll in the registry using a mobile phone number, we use SMS text messages to help you securely set up and access your account. These are account and security messages only — we do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

2. Types of messages you may receive
  • Account activation: a one-time code or secure link to claim and set up your account.
  • Password and access recovery: a one-time code or secure link to reset your password or regain access to your account.
  • Account and security notifications: important messages related to the security of your account.
Sample messages you may receive:
  • DigitalCabinet: Your verification code is 123456. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. Msg & data rates may apply.”
  • DigitalCabinet: Your password reset code is 123456. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. Msg & data rates may apply.”
3. How we obtain your consent

Participants in the registry are enrolled in person by a clinician or staff member, who reads the opt-in script below and records your verbal agreement before any text messages are sent. You are not required to consent to text messages as a condition of enrolling; if you prefer, you can enroll and access your account using email instead. Providing your consent is not a condition of receiving care.

Verbal opt-in script (read to you by your clinician):

“As part of setting up your DigitalCabinet account, we can send text messages to your mobile phone to help you activate your account and reset your password — for example, a one-time code or a secure link. These are account and security messages only; we will not send you marketing texts. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP, or reply HELP for help. Do I have your permission to send these text messages to your mobile number?”

4. Message frequency

Message frequency varies and depends on your activity — for example, when you set up your account or request a password reset. We send these messages in response to your actions rather than on a fixed schedule.

5. Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. These are set by your mobile carrier and are your responsibility. Message delivery is subject to your carrier's network, and neither we nor mobile carriers are liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. How to opt out (STOP) and get help (HELP)

You can cancel the SMS service at any time by replying STOP to any message. After you send STOP, we will send you one confirmation message and will not send any further texts unless you opt back in. If you want more information at any time, reply HELP, or email us at support@aretetic.com. If you opt out of text messages, you can still access your account using email.

7. Privacy

We treat your mobile phone number and your messaging consent as protected personal information under HIPAA and the GDPR. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or your SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with the messaging provider that delivers these texts on our behalf, solely to send the account messages described above. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
